A Walk Through Time {Autumn Adventures}

Welcome back, Autumn, I’m so glad to see you! Autumn is my favorite time of year. Being a coastal town, and one with a boardwalk, Santa Cruz has a population that doubles during the summertime. Autumn is slower, crisper, calmer…

Unless, that is, you’re a teacher (like me!). My autumn days are filled with ABCs and 123s, not to mention the wave of emotions of new students parting from their parents for the first time. But even with all the chaos of the new school year (its still chaotic even if we’re a year-round school), I love seeing the new little faces waiting to learn when September rolls around. I love the feeling of a fresh start.

During my weekends and evenings during autumn, I like to spend my time reading, writing, baking, and exploring the neighborhood while we still have some evening sunshine. My husband and I went downtown a few weekends ago to explore the historic district, and it was such a beautiful way to spend an autumn morning.

There’s something about old houses that makes my heart happy. I’m not sure if it’s the little details, the windows, or the fact that these homes have stories that I will never know. It’s almost as if the homes begin to smile with their little happy secrets. We went around looking at all of the beautiful, old homes and enjoyed being out in the crisp air.

This house gave me total Haunted Mansion vibes, which definitely got me into the spirit for autumn! I love all things spooky (except clowns. I’m not down for clowns.) and Disney, so this house really got me in the Halloween vibe. I am so excited to watch scary movies, make caramel apples, and more! What’s on your autumn bucket list?

xoxo
